I love skin care! I always think that if you look after your skin then you will have the best base possible for your make up. Unfortunately, I was blessed with oily/combination skin which it can be fair to say hasn’t half caused me some agg over the years. It’s been 10 years since I was a teenager and yet I still have acne/problem skin. I’m also a mum on a budget so it can be hard to find some decent drugstore/high street products out there.
There is one brand who I have loved since being a teenager though and that is Garnier. They have a SkinActive range out that I couldn’t wait to try out and so here’s a little review of some of the products!
3-in-1 Day Cream Super Hydrating Antioxidant Moisturiser SPF 10
‘Rehydrates intensely 24hr, Reduces the appearance of fine lines, Anti-oxidant & UVA/UVB protection, Dehydrated skin’
When I first started using this product I have to admit then I was really excited because my skin was partically parched at the time. I also struggle to find a good day moisturiser I like, they either leave me feeling sticky and not hydrating at all or they are really thick and greasy which then sets off my acne. The first thing I noticed about this cream, and indeed the range, is that it smells incredible; fruity, fresh, exactly what you want to put on your face in the morning. This comes out in a pump and you don’t need a lot at all as it its quite far. This really did live up to its name in the ‘moisture bomb’ stakes. My skin looked so fresh and plump and my make up went really nice on top. This will definitely be a re purchase for me.
Multi-Protecting Hydrating Mist
‘Anti-UV – SPF30, Anti-pollution/oxidation’
Again this smells amazing! I love this for on the go, sometimes when I’m having a mad busy day and its beaming hot outside or even when its muggy and humid, I need a quick skin pick me up. This literally goes on like a mist too. I’ve used sparays with this premise in the past and its felt like a sticky, wet mess and like my make up is sweating off. This gave me some fine, quick hydration, gave my skin a little glow and kept my face cool. I love that it has SPF in too so you can keep your skin protected especially on hot days. This for me is a handbag essential!
I have used so many night creams to try and balance and repair my skin while I sleep. Some were great, some not so great. This night gel falls into the former category. A little goes a long way so you don’t have to use loads to get results. This went on really smoothly after the rest of my routine and soaked into my skin leaving my skin feeling clean and fresh. I hate how with some night gels/creams they can leave you feeling oily and like the product is sliding off your face. I didn’t get that with this product which is a bonus. In the morning my skin definitely looked more even and like the gel had done something overnight.
It’s fair to say that I am a regular rider of the sheet mask band wagon. I pop one on, close my eyes and pretend I’m in a spa having a proper facial. The main issue that I had with this maks is that it is really wet. I know this is the point as it is a moisture mask however it made it really fiddly to put the mask on and then I had to get the excess product off my hands. However, once the mask was on and fixed in place this mask was brilliant. When I used this mask I’d had a flare up of dreaded adult acne and this mask was so soothing and cooling it was just what I needed. It really helped to calm the angry blemishes that had developed and at the same time gave me the added moisture I needed for my dry patches. I noticed a difference the day after using this in that my acne had calmed down and wasn’t so sore. This is perfect for my fellow ladies and gents who get stressed out skin times.
In total I would say this range is really good, especially for my oily/combination girls and guys. As it’s also really affordable and available in Superdrug and Boots, who regularly have offers on, then its perfect for teenagers, students and those on a budget too. I will definitely be repurchasing this range and adding it to my routine.
