I was excited for this month’s Birchbox as it was a collaboration with Oliver Bonas and the box design was gorgeous. I love a good geometric design and the message of ‘Work hard, play hard and be kind’ is a favourite of mine. Let’s get into what I thought of the September edition!
Manna Kadar Cosmetics Fantasy 3-in-1 Eyeshadow (£15.00 for 11.3g)
I’ve always wanted to try something from the Manna Kadar brand as a lot of my favourite YouTube vloggers such as Chrisspy, rave about how brilliant her products are. This product was brilliant, The eye shadow colour itself was perfect for me and I often reach for shades like this. It wasn’t as pigmented as I thought it would be dry, but when sprayed with some setting spray or hydrating spray it really made the colour pop and stand out on my eye. For day use as a blusher/highlight it was a bit much for me but on a night out or to dinner it was brilliant. I used it coupled with my bronzer and didn’t need to use extra blush. It gave my cheeks a really nice colour and complimented my skin tone well.
Arrow Boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm (£11.00 for 4g)
This lip balm is one of my favourites having received one before in a previous beauty subscription box It’s actually one of my favourite lip balms. It gives your skin the hydration and nourishment that they need coming into the colder months and stopped them from getting dry and chapped. Gives my lips a nice subtle hint of colour too, like my lips but better kind of look. Definitely a handbag must have.
Polar IcyMagic Instant Eye Contour Energiser (£22,00 for 10ml)
Head up, I don’t like bashing products. I always feel that someone has worked to get a product out there and that what you dislike someone else may love. However, I really didn’t get along with parts of this product. I found the ball applicator was really hard and actually hurt my eye in some places, scratching and dragging on the skin. In the end I took the ball out and actually scooped some of the product out. Other than that however I found the product itself as okay. It gave me some nourishment and did soothe them a little after a hard day. However, I have tried better and cheaper alternatives than this.
Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle (£18.50 for 236ml)
I am known for nicking my little one’s detangling spray. My hair is quite thin and I’m working on getting it stronger and healthier after years of at home dyeing mistakes. This product is a perfect alternative for me instead of using my little one;s. It made my hair so soft and shiny and the tangles came right out. Normally I still get some rough patches and that’s even using my wt brush however this product made my wet brush glide right through. And it has the most gorgeous scent too. Quite sweet but not in a sickly manner.
Dr. PawPaw Original Clear Balm – Yellow (£6.95 for 25ml
Again this is often recommended by celebrities or YouTube vloggers. This is a brilliant multi purpose balm, great for dry, flaky chapped lips, to soothe itchy, dried up spots, a great overnight lip treatment and I even used this on my eyebrows overnight to give them some nourishment. I love this product it’s a brilliant multi-use handbag hero.
Overall I really enjoyed trying out the products in this month’s Birchbox. I am really looking forward to trying the October edition especially as we are now in the middle of Autumn. And I of course will keep you updated!
